The year's coming to an end so I've got to start thinking about who will be the recipient of the 3rd Annual Greatest American of the Year (G.A.Y.) Award, as well as the Anti-G.A.Y. Award.
My criteria isn't complex. Basically, I like small folks who make a big impact, as previous recipients demonstrated.
I have some ideas about who's in the field for both titles but I want to ask you all:
Who should take home either of this year's crowns?

Maybe not a huge impact, but these teachers:

I vote Sarah Palin for the Anti award.
Those teachers deserve the anti award. Pulling black kids pants up just makes life easier for skinny jeans manufacturers. That's not making anyone smarter or better prepared to get a job or be a productive citizen. If the teachers were this intent on making sure students excelled in the classroom it would be a different story. I know if a teacher ever pulled that shit on me as a kid I would be livid and they would SUFFER big time. It's 2010, corporal punishment we off that.
Keith Fitzhugh. I got choked up. Game over.

My suggestions for the G.A.Y.:
Kamala Harris - CA Attorney General-Elect (First women/african-american/indian-american/etc. to hold the job after winning a close election)
Super Bowl Champions New Orleans Saints
14-year old Graeme Taylor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJBvdfdAQjs)
or
Antoine Dodson
Anti-G.A.Y should go to:
Christine O'Donnel
Kat Stacks
or
Americans (for shifting the balance of the house and keeping Bristol Palin in until the finals of DWTS)
