peeps have been using SID Station (a synth that uses the original C64's sound processing chip)tunes for ages.

if interested, check out:

8bit Peoples
they are a net label that release chiptunes based primarily on NES, C64 and Gameboy sound chips.

Personally, I await a synth that uses the old SNES sound chips. Actraiser and Super Castlevania IV had fantastic synth work.

I'm also noticing alot of pop is using video game music, I coulda sworn I heard some Final Fantasy music in a Beyonce cut not to long ago, and Im sure someone has used Soul Calibur music in a hip hop beat recently...
