A lot of people have been talking about Charles Hamilton is over because he got punched by a girl on the street while trying to conduct an interview...
A few things that stand out to me:
1. The girl who punched him clearly got emotional because he ate her alive in the rap battle. She lost her cool. He didn't. To that point...
2. Give Charles his props for not clocking her. What was he supposed to do in this situation? Hit her back? Chris Brown her? Don't be trifling, y'all.
3. I hate to see good MCs be brought down over BS like this. Same thing happened to Freeway back in the day. He got set up in a studio and made to look like a fool by whom?! Cassidy?! Who was spitting nothing but the same tired drug-thug script and hasn't really been heard from outside a few hot singles that owed their appeal to Swizz Beats production?!
Come on, y'all. Choose wisely...a good MC is hard to come by.
UPDATE: A commenter pointed out that there is more to the Charles Hamilton than I was aware of. He's an asshole and a half for what he said. My bad.

I think the Brown reference goes even further when you take into account that they were(maybe still are?) a couple. Or at least that's what I heard.
If that's the case then maybe she was expecting him not to come off hard as he did. She was play fighting and spit a little "lover's jab" while he spit a haymaker. Maybe he was the one who took it too seriously first. He was obviously stunting for the camera.
I hate when women act savagely. We wonder why men treat us like men when we act like them. I have felt angry enough to strike a man but have refrained. It's not the right thing to do AND... even little men are strong. If that same man decided to hit me back (a) I'd deserve it and (b) It would hurt me more than it hurt him.
thank you so much for posting that Freeway battle. it's been years! I remember that thing made its rounds on VHS is my dorm, under the title "The Death of Freeway". His classic line is found at the end: "ayo put a beat on...i wan' rhyme over a track..putta beat on..."
Charles Hamilton is not a good rapper.
i think some topics are below the belt (pun included) and bringing up a shmushsmortion definitely qualifies.
@ El Diablo Negro
I disagree with you on Charles. Maybe I appreciate his new school approach to things, but let me ask you...
who is a rapper that you think is "good"?
Charles Hamilton(neither is Freeway)is not a good rapper but he was in the right in that situation. Cassidy's BARS was a classic because he repented his stereotypical and "gangster" lyrics and ways that landed him in jail
i think Hamilton is legit! Definitely one of the new fresh young faces bringing good vibes to the game. See also Drake and Kid Cudi. I like dude.
Freeway was also pretty good. Philadelphia Freeway was a damn good album.
Yeah, I kinda disagree with you Diallo. She did lose her cool, but with good reason. Dude was kinda foul for bringing up that good A in a rap battle.
1. the chick was his girlfriend. 2. he clowned on her for aborting HIS baby. 3. he deserved a good asswuping for that and not just a punch. i think you need to rethink your position on this one homey.
I have to say, and this is a hell of thing to admit, I didn't realize he was rapping about something real.
I always assume people are just talking fake trash but in light of this new info...well, that changes the whole picture for me.
I remember L.L. used to be a magnanimous asshole, too. I think if this kid hooks up with the right producers, he can be big. LL always had great producers when he started out (Rick Rubin, Russell Rush,Bobcat, The Bomb Squad)which, I think, provided him with an advantage other young talented cats really don't have now. Would a young L.L. thrive today, or would he be like Young Berg, getting beat up all of the time?
Diallo,
Have you heard B.O.B?
@El Diablo
B.O.B. or Bobby Ray (his new alias kinda) is nice. I am like you where I can't listen to Charles Hamilton anymore because he just flooded the net with a bunch of so-so mixtapes. I'd have to hear a good track next a weak one too many times.
I don't think he's bad at what he does. He's just not my brand of the "new rapper". I find him to be a disrespectful punk (with the media, the Rhymefest situation, and this recent stunt). It's one of the few times when learning more about the artist has made me dislike listening to him.
"I'd have to hear a good track next to a weak one too many times"
I have a few BOB tracks (I actually know dude through a mutual acquaintance).
Let me ask you this, what is the BEST three songs by him that I need to cop immediately.
I want to know what's up.
Maybe I have been in the comedy vacuum but what is the Rhymefest-Hamilton beef about?
Thats a hard one. There are so many in constant rotation right now. Lets say...
"Ghost in the Machine"
"I'll be in the sky" and...
"Cloud 9" or "Middle of the Day".
As far as Hamilton, I don't pay attention to his internet antics. His jack ass behavior only furhter clouds my perception of his sub par musical output.
As an artist dude just sounds amateur and unpolished to me.

Here is Rhymefest perspective on it.
And here is Charle's response.

Basically just a rap battle gone bad made worse by an immature\macho attitude (since they both at fault in my eyes).
