New Slum / New Dilla

I've always found Slum Village in the post-Dilla period a little hit-or-miss. But I dig this one. Found it grew on me the more I listened.

UPDATE: Blast from the recent past. Good call, Bittersweet...but didn't Black Milk make this beat, not Dilla?

Update #2 - Damn, no one told me a new Dilla record had dropped two weeks ago.

"On Stilts" - Off the new Jay Stay Paid LP

I've been a SV fan for a while. "Fantastic Vol. 2" was a classic. After that, I agree that they were hit or miss, but I will confess to owning "Trinity" and "Slum Village." I can get with this track and it's good to see Baatin back! Have you heard the last track that they did with Dilla (to my knowledge) appropriately titled "Reunion": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqg64XlVsS4?

Yep, "Reunion" is a Black Milk joint.

Sorry about not mentioning the "Stay Paid" album. I was disappointed by it. I was under the impression that it was going to be an album as opposed to essentially a mixtape with already-released beats, in some instances.

Plus, I've just about had my fill of "new" J Dilla material. I rather find old tracks (like the track he did for Somethin' For the People) and reminisce.

@ Jacarl

I hear that, but truthfully, I hadn't heard these beats before and I think he's one of the few producers whose material sounds just as good without someone rapping over it...

My mistake, guys! But in my defense I never said Dilla produced it, I just thought it was the last time Dilla rapped on a track with the rest of the group...minus 'Tin.

side bar... if u havent already.. u guys should check out more of black milks stuff. Dilla is irreplaceable, but if there is any current producer that has a reminscent style, its def black milk. check out elzhi's "the preface" he did all but two tracks... one of the best hip hop cd's of '08.
