Today's Flashback was born out of Diallo's post from last Saturday.
In it, he mentioned "Native New Yorker".
One of Odyssey's other hits was this "Watching You"-based track.
Regarding the video, it's obvious that the then increasingly popular music medium didn't really work for them. I mean, people diving into clouds is cool but the trio doesn't seem all that comfortable in the format. What's more, they must have hired a choreographer out of the Yellow Pages.
And is it just me or does the final scene give off a creepy ménage à trois-vibe?
Still, though, it's a nice groove.

I have always thought those songs sounded identical, "Watching You" and "Inside Out."
Was that intentional?
Which came first? "Bounce Rock Skate" and "Rappers Delight"? Do the research.
Slave provided the production and instrumentation on the track. So it may not have been intentional but that was the result.
Deaconkelly sez:
Odyssey had August Darnell from Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band and Kid Creole and the Coconuts, who was one of the great producers during the disco era, produce 'Native New Yorker'. He produced the incredible Machine's "There But For The Grace Of God". He knew how to bring a big band sound and contemporize it. Then they went with Steve Washington from Slave to produce their songs. They produced Aurra, too (Are You Single, Checking You Out). These guys names' never come up in the great R&B producers argument, but I believe during the disco era, they produced timeless work that stood the test of time moreso that other artists of that time. Including the big artists, who floundered during the late 70's, and gave into the disco sound (EWF, Isley Brothers, etc)
