This:
Ain't too far from this:
Damn...they really did reference George Wallace in that ad...
just.
wow.
the best part is the shot of innocent black kids as regards "school choice"...something about that kind of made me mad.
What I find most galling about black Republicans is their inability to understand why the majority of blacks (or, you know, minorities period) won't vote Republican. So let me help them out:
IT'S THE RACISM, STUPID.
Look, I find a lot of your talking points appealing:
I am a huge fan of economic free will and empowerment and marginally regulated markets. I am a huge fan of small government (someone should tell Bush that's a Republican platform). I am a huge fan of states rights (as long as those rights expand freedoms in the Constitution rather than limit them). I think the black community needs training programs more than welfare, small business loans more than community centers. When we strengthen the ability of our families to take care of themselves...we strengthen the community at large.
But, my dear Republican friends, when I watch your leaders speak...especially to their "base"...and when see the Southern Strategy still in use today...I can't ride with you.
I'd prefer to get the things I like about your platform adopted, though slowly, by liberals...then pretend I don't know what word you're thinking when I look in your eyes and hear you speak.
Republicans...if you want more black votes, purge your party of its racist heart.

Yeah. I actually posted the Black Republicans skit in response to that video when it was posted in a couple of places.
I was just waiting for them to tack on Secret Muslim Homosexual to the end of the Millionaire elitist stuff. Be complete y'know?
Thing is (as it always is), they don't have a single positive thing to say about their candidate. Or any Republican candidate. Ever.
Speak to me of cutting my taxes more than $300 or reducing government spending and you've got my attention... just up until you fire folks who we've spent millions training cause of who they sleep with, endorse racial profiling as the best and most necessary terror preventative (cause American me, with a long Arab name, is tired of of people digging around in my bra at the airport) and without explanation give tax breaks to the companies with soaring profits.
Almost all politicians underestimate the intelligence of their constituents-- but in my experience, Republicans take the cake. It's not just the racism-- it's the hypocrisy.
The school choice thing is BIG. There is a large and growningcontingent of stealth black republicans nationwide..local and state black democratic legislators who are funded by the republican schol choice special interest. This is one of the most moneyed special interest ISSUE based (as opposed to demographic based) lobbies in the country, and it's turning campaign finance-minded blacks dems into stealth repubs al over the country. What people fail to realize is that the whole school schoice thing, particularly the heinous voucher system, is code word for eventual privatization of public education. Anyhow, this is a rant, but the point is that by taking and eventually being beholden to all this school choice special interest money, the GOP has found a niche to make inroads with black legislators nationwide. Just watch.
What does "small government" mean except "don't provide basic services to poor people?
What does "states rights" mean besides making sure the South can keep suppressing rights of black people?
In your sketch when it cut to the two headed calf...
I laughed for 2 minutes straight.
Do you think a third party could come into existence within the next 10-15 years seeing as though the racial/class/cultural demographic is changing?
I voted for Nader in 2000 (I live in a red state, so it really didnt matter).
one at a time.
1. The idea of school choice need not be in a zero sum relationship with better funding for public schools. why can't we do both. Therein lies one of the fundamental right-wing deceptions. were we to spend on school funding what it deserved...we could both put high achieving kids in better schools AND make sure our basic schools did what they are meant to do...
But, just like the industry makes you think there can only be one black show per network, or one black movie per month, or one black character show...so, too, do you think there can either be school choice OR better funding for public schools.
The fundamental reason Republicans support this is because they HATE government paid for public schools. The idea is that they'll brain drain the public schools, leaving them so decrepit the states will have no choice but to turn them over to private companies and pay a fee per community. Don't get it twisted...it always comes back to money.
And as a person who benefitted GREATLy from school choice, since I went to a magnet schooll...nothing about that system need destroy our basic public schools. These are future citizens who will be called upon to run the country whether we like it or not. we neglect them at our peril.
NEXT:
small government is code you accurately describe...but, in theory i think it can be reconstituted differently than currently understood. It can mean the government literally focuses only on the basics of American necessity, namely: excellent health care, excellent education and excellent security...that's really all we need. we can give everything else to the private sector...no more bridges to nowhere.
States rights, as i said, i only support if they expand human freedoms. Gay marriage, legal pot, shit...even gun rights that vary from border to border. got no problem with it, but again, they have historically been used to supress rights so you're correct...i just think these things can change.
They showed George Clinton standing next to Obama like it was a bad thing!
"Paint the White House Black!"
"Woof!"
Ok, ok...in all seriousness.
Don't get me started on the school issue. It's ridiculous!
You're right, it's money...primarily.
But, it's also racial as well.
This country is nothing if not glued to the mantra, "May the best man win!"
And, for those that have (and that includes the more affluent Blacks), their priority is to make sure their kids have the best opportunities and facilities. They will never be in support of leveling the playing field. And, no matter how they sugar coat it, they will always find a way to take from and give to their own.
Basic survival tactics.
Instead of being truly Patriotic to the notion that educating the nation will make the whole country stronger for the future, they will constantly hold on to the current caste system of furthering the chosen few...and leaving the others behind.
And don't give me that ish about those who truly want to learn or succeed will find a way.
Keep telling yourself that...while the country continues to fall behind the rest of the world.
Divide and conquer.
House N's and Field N's are still represented strongly in the very groups that separate our society today. Only now they go by more PC names.
F*ck a Black Republican sellout...and their elitist Democratic cousins!
Why can't Johnny read? 'Cause he lives in a poor tax district and his teacher moved to Wilmette for a better paycheck!

Bashir et al:
School choice: GREAT idea. Not mutually exclusive from better funding of public schools. School choice is actually a whole universe of ideas including magnet schools, charter schools, home schooling, and even vocational/trade training. Great options all. THe problem is that "school choice" is becoming a code word euphemism for
Vouchers: BAD IDEA. VERY BAD. gotta go to work. will wax vitroilic on vouchers from the office.
