I want this statement to be clear – I am not voting for Obama just because he is black. First and foremost what I appreciate and respect about him is that he appears to sincerely want to unify this country and that is an extremely rare goal in the political process.
The article mentions how some Black Republicans are planning to vote for Obama. To which I say: Thank you. I appreciate you taking a moment to expand your views, step outside of your usual pattern and bring our country one step closer to a new era.
The article also mentions those Black Republicans who are unwavering in their support for McCain. Why? Why? Why? Usually I ignore what I deem to be ill-conceived arguments. I consider it a waste of my time to argue with – well let’s just say people I think are idiots. But in 2008 I cannot so easily ignore the lunacy.
How can anyone with an ounce of sense look back on the last eight years and not weep for the damage that has occurred? 4000 (and counting) lives lost in a fraudulent war. Lies, deceit, fear and intimidation have ruled the day for the last eight years. Trillions of dollars wasted! And who was right up in the mix during those dark days? That’s right – good ole Johnny McCain.
Our country needs a change. A radical departure from the status quo. Do a 180 (definition: do a 180 turn around and go in the opposite direction, U-turn) To put it simply – McCain represents the old guard, the old ways, the system that no longer (if it ever truly did) effectively addresses the needs of all of its citizens – not just a privileged few.
Obama represents that change. And not in some namby-pamby, latte drinking, prius driving way. He has concrete ideas and plans. His approach to problem solving is expansive – not short sighted and exclusive to a small percentage of the population. He represents the direction in which our country needs to move – forward.
I am by no means done with this topic. Oh yes – there will be more. Facts, figures, bullet points – hell maybe a pie chart or two. Yeah insurgents – I’m coming for ya.

Sorry my first entry is so damn long – I caught the fever.
Yes Message fans – there is a new voice on the block.

Good write up, but I think the expression is turn around 180 degrees-not 360 (because you'd be facing the same direction again). But hey, Jason Kidd made the same mistake on his first day on the job.
Really? No one even tried to correct that mistake? Talk about instantly invalidating a point of view...
welcome, Crescent.

Well I am big enough to admit a mistake and big enough to correct it.
